March/April 2009 Updates

Life Flies By When You're Not Paying Attention!

Zach is growing up so fast! He wants to be all grown up and become a Grandpa already. He says he wants to play with his grandchildren like his grandpa's do with him. Lately he has been testing the waters to see how far he can push the envelope with our parenting skills. We try... that is the best thing we can do. I hope he is as determined as he is now to get his way when he is a teenager pressing forward in school.
He is one smart cookie... Matt and I have been spelling things out when we try to hide it from him. One day he started talking about our conversation and the item we spelled out. It freaked both of us out.
Zach is an outdoors kind of a kid. If there is room for him to sprint or run-he's gone! He will run and run and run and run... until he collapses. He will be a great athlete when he grows older. We plan on putting him in some sports in the fall. By then he will be old enough to start playing on teams.

Maddy has really taken on a calm, but determined attitude. When she sees the remote control, she is all about it! Maddy will find a way to get it, even if she has to bribe Zach to pass it to her. Her bribary with Zach is screeching at the top of her lungs and lunging for it. He knows if she gets it, she will stop screeching. She has him trained already!!! LOL

Maddy is beginning to stand without any assistance. She has found she can balance and stand in one place. She hasn't quite figured out the balancing and taking a step yet. We figured she will be attempting to walk by Memorial Day weekend.

This little girl LOVES to snuggle and be close to her Mommy (me.) If she can't see me in the room she will hunt me down in the kitchen, laundry room or bathroom. I think of the comedian Bill Engval and Here's Your Sign comedy tour CD. One part in there talks about having no privacy at all. This even includes the bathroom when duty needs to be done. Maddy will sit by the door and say "MOMM...Mommm...MOOMMMM!" and stick her fingers under the door. I can't help, but laugh when she does it.
